Yeager to appear in court in March

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Former Kanawha County Magistrate Julie Yeager will appear in court in March regarding the alleged embezzlement of thousands of dollars from a state judicial organization.

Kanawha Circuit Judge Duke Bloom will preside over the appearance on March 25.

Yeager resigned from the bench in July 2017 after allegedly embezzling at least $22,000 from the West Virginia Magistrate Association between late 2016 and July 2017; she was the group’s treasurer. She also is accused of lying to other group officials when approached about the issue.

She later said she used the money for personal expenses.

Yeager was first elected in 2004.
