Woman killed after being hit by train in Kanawha City

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A woman was killed after being struck by a train in Kanawha County Friday afternoon.

The collision happened at the eastern end of Chesterfield Avenue.

It happened in the 6600 block of Chesterfield Avenue at the eastern end of the city limits of Charleston near Kanawha City.

Police said the victim, 55-year-old Leoda Harris, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The deadly collision, which involved a CSX train, occurred at around 1:20 p.m.

Charleston police are investigating.
