WINFIELD, W.Va. — A loaded handgun was confiscated from a student’s backpack at Winfield Middle School Monday morning, school officials said.
There were no injuries. The school’s principal contacted staff and parents.
An investigation is underway by Winfield police, the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department and the school’s security officer.
