Wanted Charleston man still on the run

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The search continued Friday in the Capital City for a suspect who was considered armed and dangerous.

Andrew “A3” Williamson, 29, of Charleston, was wanted on charges of crack cocaine possession and being a felon with a gun.

“It’s a high priority for us to find him,” said Lt. Steve Cooper, chief of detectives for the Charleston Police Department.

A gun and crack cocaine was found in Williamson’s Clay Avenue home on Charleston’s West Side during a Thursday search, according to Cooper.

Williamson has a lengthy criminal record.

Most recently, he was wanted on a wanton endangerment charge in connection with a July 2016 shooting at the Monkey Barrel Bar.

Prior to that, he’d faced charges — at different points — for murder, as an accessory to murder and, during time behind bars, for the assault of a prison guard.

“A couple of his more serious felonies fell through due to technical reasons or due to the fearfulness of witnesses to testify against him,” Cooper said.

“He knows how the system works and he’s very careful in many of his activities, but not this time.”
