Victim’s name in violent fatal Corridor G crash released

ALUM CREEK, W.Va. — Kanawha County Sheriff’s Deputies released the name of the victim involved in a violent fatal crash near Alum Creek Monday.

Mitchell Tyler Garrett, 19, of St. Albans, was killed after a Nissan Maxima traveling at a high rate of speed was struck by a Nissan Murano on U.S. Route 119.

Three people were reportedly ejected from the Maxima, which was split into two pieces.

Witnesses said the Maxima was driven from Brounland Road across Corridor G’s northbound lanes into the southbound lane before it was hit. The driver and a female passenger in the car were taken by ambulance to area hospitals.

The passenger of the Murano had an arm injury and the driver was not injured. The vehicle sustained heavy front-end damage in the crash.

The causes of the crash were still under investigation.
