UPDATE: No threat found at state Capitol

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Authorities said a phoned threat to the state Capitol was “unsubstantiated.”

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office bomb squad and Capitol Police Department were searching Wednesday evening for any “suspicious people or items.”

The West Virginia Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety released a statement: “So far, the 911 call appears entirely unsubstantiated. The Capitol Police appreciate the assistance from the State Police, Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, Charleston Police and other first responders.”
