Trick-or-Beat returns to Appalachian Power Park Monday

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Parents in the Kanawha Valley will have an option to take their kids trick-or-treating a day before Halloween.

98.7 The Beat, along with West Virginia Radio Corporation and The West Virginia Power, will host the 12th Annual Trick-or-Beat at Appalachian Power Park in Charleston Monday night.

“The kids have a lot of fun walking around the entire concourse of Power Park, getting candy from all the different vendors. It’s a well lit environment, it’s safe, it’s fun and it’s just a good time,” said DJ ActRight from 98.7 The Beat.

DJ ActRight said his favorite part is getting to see all the costumes.

“We see the typical monsters and princesses, but then you’ll see a homemade costume that a kid made. Those are the really good memories and things I look forward to is seeing all the different costumes and how creative the kids can be,” he said.

The Beat, our sister station, hosts the event each year to provide a safe environment for families.

“It takes all the worry off the parents’ minds about where are we going for trick-or-treat, who’s going to be around and is it going to be dark? Are there going to be lights out? This is the funnest, the safest way to do trick-or-treat,” DJ ActRight said.

There will be two trick-or-treat sessions from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Tickets are available at the 98.7 The Beat studios at 1111 Virginia Street East in Charleston and Appalachian Power Park. Adults do not need tickets.
