Transource Energy decides on lines in Kanawha, Roane counties project

WALTON, W.Va. — An affiliate of American Electric Power has decided on final line routes for its Clendenin-Walton Area Improvements Project, according to a press release Monday.

Transource Energy said the project in Kanawha and Roane counties was approved by the West Virginia Public Service Commission last June, and will cost $75 million.

The project consists of a new 25-mile, 138-kilovolt transmission line, three new substations and additional upgrades to existing facilities.

The organization said the improvements will support the region’s increasing power demand and ensure reliable service to customers in the area.

According to the press release, right-of-way agents with Emerald Energy will work on contacting landowners on the route.

Construction on the project is expected to start later this year and be completed in 2019.
