Town Center Mall to close at times for construction work

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Parts of the Charleston Town Center Mall will closed, at times, throughout this Easter weekend.

Construction work to replace the building’s 33-year-old HVAC heating and cooling system will be taking place from Friday through Sunday.

On Friday, the mall will be open as usual. Clendenin Street will be closed throughout the weekend to allow for heavy equipment staging, but the mall entrance there will remain open. Panera Bread and the Chop House will also be open normal business hours.

On Saturday, the entire shopping center and department stores, with the exception of Macy’s, will open at 11 a.m. Macy’s will run on normal business hours. The Quarrier Street parking garage will also open at 11. The Lees Street garage will be open as usual. The mall will close at 9 p.m.

On Easter Sunday, the whole shopping center, with the exception of Sears and Court Street restaurants, will be closed. The Lee Street parking garage will also be closed. Sears will be open from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. Quarrier Street parking will remain open. Restaurants will be open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. The mall is encouraging garage parkers to use city sidewalks to access those restaurants because the mall will be shutdown.

The Town Center Mall will reopen for normal business hours Monday.
