Toddler found dead inside South Charleston home

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Officers are investigating a case where a toddler was found dead inside a Kanawha County home Saturday night.

South Charleston police were called to a home in the 700 block of Chesapeake Street at around 8 p.m.

Officials said they were told a 2-year-old child drowned in bathtub Friday night. The mother had dropped her child off at the home earlier that night, but the babysitter did not alert authorities about the incident until Saturday night.

There’s no word on why the report was delayed.

The cause of death has not yet been determined. Police are working with the Kanawha County Prosecutor’s Office in the investigation.
