Thousands without power in southern W.Va. after Monday night storms

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Strong storms and downed trees led to thousands in the dark in southern West Virginia Monday night.

According to AEP’s outage map, more than 4,000 people without power in Kanawha County, and nearly 3,000 in Wayne County.

About 2,500 residents in Mingo County are without power, as well as over 1,000 residents in Putnam County and just under 800 in Fayette.

There was no word on when power will be restored.
