SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Thomas Health System announced Tuesday that it is assessing an opportunity that would transition the Emergency Department at Saint Francis Hospital to an urgent care health and wellness center.
The move would be part of Thomas Health System’s overall goal to meet a new landscape in healthcare, according to a release.
The organization believes that providing the community with a center to treat non-emergency health issues, including lab work, health screenings, flu shots, minor illnesses and injuries, addresses these challenges.
A final decision has not yet been determined, but Thomas Health System said to expect more news later this week.
