St. Albans man arrested after lengthy pursuit

DUNBAR, W.Va. — A St. Albans man who was initially wanted for running a red light on his motorcycle faces far more serious charges after running from officers on a pursuit which stretched from Dunbar into Putnam County and back into Kanawha County ending near St. Albans.

“The officer observed a male in the parking lot of City National Bank and when he pulled out he accelerated at a high rate of speed and ran a red light,” said Lt. Matt Arthur with the Dunbar Police Department. “The officer was attempting to stop him for a red light violation and once he got behind him the pursuit started.”

The chase started around 2:30 a.m. Thursday and went up Roxalana Road, onto West Washington Street and then back onto I-64 into Putnam County where the bike took the St. Albans exit.  The pursuit ended near Coal River Road outside St.Albans.

“He had slowed down a little bit and ended up laying the motorcycle on its side,” said Arthur. “He didn’t necessarily give up, but it wasn’t a big crash either.”

RickyLee Clark, 48, of St. Albans is now charged with fleeing with wreckless indifference.  Police say he gave no reason as to why he took off when police attempted to stop him.
