South Charleston man dies after being hit by car on foot

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va.–A pedestrian was killed after being struck by a car Monday night in the 4400 block of MacCorkle Avenue in South Charleston.

Metro 911 dispatchers say the man was unresponsive on the ground when first responders arrived, and was critically injured. He later died from his injuries. The driver of the car told WSAZ-TV that the man ran into the street and was wearing dark clothes.

The accident caused westbound lanes in the area to be closed for a time, and traffic to be directed through the turn lane.
