South Charleston businesses network at local expo

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The South Charleston Chamber of Commerce held its Business Expo and Holiday Business After Hours Tuesday evening, providing local businesses the opportunity to network and talk to other businesses leaders in the city.

Representatives of 27 businesses, including BridgeValley Community and Technical College, West Virginia Power and MedExpress Urgent Care, were in attendance at the event at Holiday Inn and Suites.

Chamber executive director Amanda Ream said the meeting serves as a networking opportunity, as businesses were allowed to set up booths to showcase their products and promote their services.

“We want to create different types of forums for our businesses as well as businesses in the area where they can come out and do that,” she said.

Nikki Stone, the scheduling coordinator for Gutter Pro West Virginia, said her business has benefited from participating over the last five years.

“It gives us the opportunity to interact and mingle and get to know the rest of the local businesses that are here,” she said. “I really feel like, from a business standpoint, you really want to be in touch and in tune with all the other local businesses around.”

Ream said the biggest benefit of the event was the one-on-one time between businesses, and allowing businesses to end the year by forming relationships with owners who may not be in the same industry but have similar goals.
