Sissonville woman dies follow Route 21 crash

SISSONVILLE, W.Va. — Kanawha County sheriff’s deputies say a medical problem may have caused a fatal traffic accident Thursday morning.

Hazel Thomas, 75, of Sissonville, was driving north on state Route 21 (Sissonville Drive) at around 9 a.m. when her car crossed the center line and slammed into a ditch near the Long & Fisher Funeral Home. There were no other vehicles around at the time of the accident, deputies said.

Thomas, who was pronounced dead at CAMC General, may have suffered a heart attack before the crash, doctors told deputies.

She was not wearing a seat belt, deputies said.
