CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The grand opening of the Shawnee Sports Complex will be held Tuesday, with exhibition games to be held on all six new turf fields that afternoon and evening.
The Kanawha County Commission will hold a press event at 4 p.m. The West Virginia Chaos will play its final game of the season on Field 1 at 7 p.m., which will be followed by fireworks.
“The Shawnee Sports Complex will bring a huge economic boost to our region,” Kanawha County Commission Ben Salango said. “Just as important, our local kids and sports teams now have the absolute best and safest place to play.”
Admission to next Tuesday’s event is free. A shuttle service to the park will be at West Virginia State University’s Lot C on Barron Drive. Outside food and beverages will not be allowed in the sports complex.
