Search continues for missing Huntington woman

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — Crews from the Huntington Fire Department began searching a section of the Ohio River Friday for missing resident Linda Wasmer.

The 55-year-old nurse was last seen at her home on Emmons Avenue Monday.

“We put our boat in the water. It’s the first day we’ve been able to get it in the river due to the river conditions and ramp conditions,” Huntington FD Chief Deputy Brian Greco told WSAZ-TV Friday morning.

Wasmer’s friends have said her disappearance is out of character. Many of her personal items have been located inside her house.

Wasmer, who is a nurse, wasn’t there when coworker Janice Jeffers stopped by to pick her up Tuesday morning.

“Monday, I dropped her off after work. She said, ‘I’ll see you in the morning.’ I said, ‘Yep, I’ll see you in the morning.’ Never dreamed I wouldn’t see her in the morning,” Jeffers told WSAZ.

Wasmer’s friends have told authorities she often walked along the river.
