Ripley woman faces neglect charges in death of infant son

RIPLEY, W.Va. — A Jackson County woman was charged Tuesday with neglect resulting in the death of her son.

Charity Clinard, 24, of Ripley, was allegedly passed out on drugs when the infant was found dead on Jan. 6.

The four-month-old baby was found face down in a plastic bag.

The boy’s cause of death has not been determined, but the medical examiner reported there were no signs of abuse or trauma on the boy’s body.

Clinard is being held in the South Central Regional Jail facing three to 15 years in prison if convicted.
