Pre-trial hearing pushed back for man accused of son’s murder

HURRICANE, W.Va. — A Putnam County man charged with killing his five month old son last year will be back in court later this month.

34-year-old Robert Jeremy Smith of Hurricane was in court earlier today for a pretrial hearing–but that was reset for May 28th. Smith is still scheduled to go on trial July 27th.

He allegedly abused his son to death last May. Smith was spotted with the boy in a Kanawha City neighborhood, and it was determined the child was dead in the back seat of the vehicle.

Smith apparently tried to attempt suicide at the scene of the boy’s death.
