Pinch man pleads guilty to stealing mail

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Kanawha County man pleaded guilty Monday to possessing stolen mail, according to U.S. Attorney Carol Casto.

Jason Lee Spradling, 34, of Pinch, admitted to having a large quantity of stolen mail, and was aware the mail was stolen.

One of the stolen items was a box of checks from a mailbox, which Spradling opened in an attempt to cash one of the checks in December 2015.

He also admitted to finding hundreds of pieces of mail in July 2015 that was stolen from the Elkview area.

Spradling faces up to five years in federal prison and a $250,000 fine. His sentencing date is July 5.
