Pennsylvania man arrested for driving while using heroin

SOUTH CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Pennsylvania man was arrested Wednesday following a vehicle accident in South Charleston, in which he and a passenger were allegedly showing signs of overdosing.

South Charleston Police Department officers responded to a three-car accident at the intersection of MacCorkle Avenue and Montrose Drive.

According to officers, the driver, 30-year-old Patrick Jennings of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and a passenger were showing signs of overdosing. Both were revived by emergency medical personnel using Narcan.

A drug recognition expert determined Jennings was driving under the influence of a drug or narcotic. Jennings later admitted to using heroin while driving the vehicle.

Police arrested Jennings, who was placed on a $750 bond at South Central Regional Jail.

The condition of the passenger and other people involved in the accident is not known at this time.
