Pastor accused of sexual texts turns himself in

JACKSON COUNTY, W.Va. — A former pastor in Jackson County turned himself into West Virginia State Police on Monday after being accused of sending sexual text messages to a 15-year-old.

Douglas Edward Harper, 39, of Gandeeville, resolved an argument with the teenager and another person during a church field trip in March.

Investigators said after the trip, Harper began texting the victim, asking him to send inappropriate pictures.

The teenager’s parents brought the issue before the Living Waters Church leaders. Harper was removed from his position shortly afterward.
