Order signed in Crossings Mall case

CHARLESTON,W.Va. — U.S. District Judge Thomas Johnston officially signed the order Friday placing the Crossings Mall property near Elkview under receivership.

The order says G&E Real Estate Management Services is now in charge of the property. The top priority is to get the culvert bridge destroyed in the June 23 flood rebuilt as quickly as possible.

Pittsburgh-based U.S. Bank, which holds a $13 million note on the property, filed the original request for receivership claiming the closed plaza was devaluing its asset. Plaza owner Bill Abruzzino of Tara Retail Group wanted to maintain control of the property.

The receiver was expected to have bids for the new bridge has early as Friday.
