One person injured in Charleston fire

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — One person was injured in a Saturday afternoon fire in Charleston.

Heavy smoke was pouring out of the house in the 1600 block of Kanawha Boulevard just west of the state capitol when Charleston fire crews arrived on the scene at around 5 p.m.

Firefighters rescued a man and a pet dog from the burning residence. They said both were expected to be okay.
