Nicholas County woman killed in Fayette County crash

GAULEY BRIDGE, W.Va. — A Nicholas County woman died Monday after failing to stop her car at an intersection in Fayette County.

State police said Tabitha Blankenship, 20, of Swiss, went through intersection of state Routes 9 and 16 at a high-rate of speed. Her car was broadsided by an approaching vehicle. Blankenship died after the driver-side collision. A passenger identified as Brian Withrow, was in critical condition at Charleston Area Medical Center Tuesday. Troopers said neither were wearing seat belts.

State police did not release the name of the other driver. They said the driver was treated and released from Montgomery General Hospital.

The accident occurred at around 9:15 Monday morning.
