Motorcyclists swarm Kanawha Boulevard for annual Biker Bash

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — For many motorcyclists, Charleston’s annual biker bash is a reunion to enjoy music, food and the friendship of fellow riders.

The 5th annual event kicked off on Kanawha Boulevard Thursday night, as my bikers came out to enjoy the beautiful weather.

“See what all’s new in the bikers world, see what all the vendors have,” said Rodney Snodgrass of Summersville, who was with his club the Punishers. “As far as the Punishers, we are a law enforcement motorcycle club that consists of law enforcement, firefighters, military and EMS.”

Russ Kennedy, of St. Albans, said the event gives some exposure to motorcycle culture to those who may not be familiar with it.

“Just basically getting out and looking at bikes, getting together, having a good time; good clean fun,” he said. “Introducing the civilian world to the bikers and different clubs that are in the area. We just all love to ride. There’s sights and sounds and sometimes smells that you can’t get when you’re riding in a car.”

Stacy Reeves came all the way from Ohio, and said she loves riding and loves Charleston.

“It’s a beautiful area. The people are great. There’s lots of activities for people to do and see. Come on down; we’re having a blast,” she said. “I’ve been riding ten years. I love the freedom of it with the wind blowing through your hair and your knees in the breeze.”\

LOCASH will performed Thursday and Shooter Jennings, son of country legend Waylon Jennings, with Waymore’s Outlaws will take the stage on Saturday.

The Biker Bash will be held through Saturday night on Kanawha Boulevard.
