More than 160 jobs open in Kanawha County Schools

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Kanawha County Schools posted more than 160 job openings Monday, a move anticipated yearly by officials with the school system.

As the school year comes to a close, individuals in the teaching and service fields are retiring. Carol Hamric, executive director for human resources in the school system, said this is a pretty normal amount of openings.

“It’s pretty normal for us to have 150, 160 (openings),”

Hamric added Kanawha County is a great place to be involved in the teaching profession because of competitive benefits and its location in the state’s capital. She said the school system will be hiring employees until the end of the summer.

“Somebody might want to transfer from another school to another school, and so it’s like a domino effect,” she said.
