More changes to come along I-64 in Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Motorists will need to look out for more changes along Interstate 64 in Charleston.

State DOH crews will continue working on the pavement preservation project between the Leon Sullivan Way exit and the Eugene A. Carter Memorial Bridge. The work will start Friday night and run through early Monday morning.

DOH Spokesman Brent Walker says the contraflow traffic pattern will still apply in that area, but additional work is needed.

“This will be just some pavement preservation work as well as replacing those expansion joints on all of those bridges,” said Walker.

Walker said it will be one constant work zone throughout the weekend. Crews will be working at night as much as possible, but there could be closures during the daytime hours.

“Whenever we can work at night, we try to, but not all of our work can be done at night,” he said.

The I-64 on-ramp from Pennsylvania Avenue will remain open throughout the weekend.
