Miller ready for full term as prosecutor

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Kanawha County Prosecutor Chuck Miller says he took his swearing-in ceremony Tuesday afternoon with all seriousness.

“I look upon it as a trust. Certainly taking the oath is extremely important to me to tell the people of Kanawha County that I will do my very level best to perform the job of prosecuting attorney,” Miller said.

Miller will begin a full four-year term in January. He has served in the position the last two years replacing the ousted Mark Plants. Miller completed the final two years of the unexpired term. He was unopposed in this year’s elections.

The prosecutor’s staff is at a good level and no major changes are planned in how the office operates, Miller said.

“My relationships with the various police departments in the county are good. My relationships with the defense bar, I think, are good. We are just maintaining the course the office has been on the past two years,” Miller said.

Miller spent most of his career in the U.S. Attorney’s Office. He did serve as an assistant county prosecutor in Kanawha County for five years in the 1970’s.
