Marmet residents file petition calling for removal of Mayor Pauley

MARMET, W.Va. — Residents of Marmet filed a petition Monday morning asking for the removal of Mayor Bill Pauley.

The petition, filed in Kanawha County Circuit Court, accuses Pauley of misconduct and contains 99 signatures. It also asks for a three-judge panel be appointed to consider Pauley’s removal.

The petition charges Pauley, with “official misconduct, malfeasance in office, incompetence, neglect of duty and gross immorality.”

The complaint includes a copy of an agreement Pauley made with the state Ethics Commission on Sept. 29, when he entered into a conciliation agreement on two counts of violating the state Ethics Act for using public office for private gain.
