Man sentenced to prison, probation for larcenry

CHARLESTON, W.Va–A man accused of stealing lawn sculptures from a Charleston neighborhood and keeping a diary of the stolen goods was sentenced to three months in prison and three years probation Thursday.

Christopher Derrick, 39, of Charleston was charged last month with grand and petty larceny. Someone of the lawn ornaments which Derrick stole from the South Hills community were were worth as much as $2,000.

Derrick will serve his prison sentence until September, and then will be placed on probation for three years. He will also pay a $2,500 fine. No restitution was ordered because the stolen items were recovered.
