Man injured in West Side shooting

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A man who was shot in the leg on Charleston’s West Side has told police he has no idea who did it.

McArthur Terrell walked into CAMC General at around 9:30 Thursday night, according to Charleston Police Chief of Detectives Lt. Steve Cooper.

“He claims he was walking down Indiana Avenue near the Go-Mart and he suddenly, unexpectedly, received a gunshot wound to the leg and he has no idea who did it,” Cooper said during an appearance on 580 Live with Charleston Mayor Danny Jones.

The injury was non-life-threatening, Cooper said.

“He’s just completely at a loss who would have no done it. He has no idea,” Cooper said.

Terrell is not from Charleston. Cooper said he’s not familiar with him.

Charleston police have had a number of similar cases in recent months where a person is shot but is generally uncooperative with investigators.
