Man faces up to 35 years in prison after pleading guilty to rape

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A man who admitted to raping a woman on Charleston’s East End earlier this week faces between 15 to 35 years in prison.

Curtis Hairston pleaded guilty to first-degree sexual assault and is scheduled for sentencing Sept. 18 in Kanawha County Circuit Court.

Hairston was convicted of second-degree rape in North Carolina over a decade ago.

Prosecutors dismissed charges of second-degree sexual assault and burglary in exchange for the guilty plea.
