Man arrested after Putnam County chase

PUTNAM COUNTY, W.Va. — Putnam County authorities arrested a Lincoln County man Thursday following a pursuit and shots being fired.

Travis Salmons, of West Hamlin, allegedly drove away from authorities on U.S. Route 60 after an alert was issued for a green Chevrolet Silverado truck. The chase ended on West Virginia Route 34.

According to Putnam County Sheriff Steve Deweese, Salmons is recovering from a single gunshot wound to his right thigh. He has be charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempt to disarm a police officer and fleeing with reckless disregard.

Hurricane police were also involved in the pursuit.

A responding officer was treated for injuries and released from the hospital.
