Man arrested after allegedly stealing wire from power yard

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. — One man has been arrested and a second person is wanted after allegedly breaking into an American Electric Power yard.

According to the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, security personnel spotted Jonathan Chuangkrud, 37, of Dunbar, and another individual cutting the lock off of a container and rolling a large roll of wire across the road. The wire is worth around $3,000.

When deputies arrived, the two suspects fled from the scene through nearby woods. Deputies were able to apprehend Chuangkrud near state Route 25 through the use of a K-9, Arizona.

The second suspect is described as a white male. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office.
