Kanawha murder trial to be rescheduled

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Kanawha County murder trial will be rescheduled after two potential witnesses couldn’t be found Monday.

Jury selection was to begin for Tremain Jackson, 23, of Charleston, but instead Kanawha County Circuit Judge Charles King issued arrest warrants for Jazmyn Mitchell and Keith Kennedy McCleod.

Jackson is charged in the January 2015 shooting death of Bryan Rogers. Rogers, 29, of Ripley, collapsed inside the West Side Market and Deli on 7th Avenue in Charleston after being shot in the stomach at close range. Prosecutors allege the shooting was over heroin.

Judge King is expected to set a new trial date for later this year.
