“I really like working at this department,” Deputy Boner said after the ceremony. “I worked at other agencies prior to coming here and it means a lot to be recognized.”

Primarily assigned to patrols in and around St. Albans, Boner has been with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department for nearly two years.

“They’re a very well known agency. They lead in most departments as far as different specialized units. They work well with every other agency inside the country,” Boner said of his department.

Boner was one of seven members of the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department nominated for “Deputy of the Year” for 2016.

The other nominees were as follows:

Deputy Dwight Meadows
Deputy Jamie Miller
Corporal Mitch Morgan
