Kanawha County man charged for threatening legislator on Facebook

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Kanawha County man has been charged after police say he threatened a state lawmaker.

West Virginia Capitol Police said Kristopher Casdorph, 39, of Charleston, is facing charges of threats of terrorist acts.

According to a March 19 criminal complaint, Casdorph sent Delegate Mike Pushkin, D-W.Va., a Facebook message regarding legislation on private prisons.

“You will cure this ill or I shall be remembered as a martyr,” Casdorph said. “As much as I love my daughter, defending her from slavery is far more important than my own life.”

Casdorph is being held at South Central Regional Jail.
