Kanawha County education board scheduled to vote on site preparation contract

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The Kanawha County Board of Education will vote Monday on a contract for site preparation work at the new Herbert Hoover High School.

The board, during a special meeting, will consider the bid from Doss Enterprises, LLC worth $19.7 million. Five bids were submitted for the work last Wednesday.

The school system estimated site preparation work would cost $25 million.

The new high school will be located in the Givens Fork area. It will replace the institution destroyed in the June 2016 flood. The Federal Emergency Management Agency last month released $52.3 million for the complete project.

Monday’s meeting is scheduled for 11:30 a.m.

A contract for the building package is expected to be put out for bid next summer.
