Kanawha County Commission to recognize deputies for snow rescue

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Members of the Kanawha County Commission plan to recognize two sheriff’s deputies that rescued a family of six from a vehicle that got stuck in the snow last week.

Corporal Morgan and Deputy Lonsinger will be honored at the commission’s meeting Thursday night. The two assisted the stranded family on Cooper’s Creek Road in Elkview on Saturday during Winter Storm Jonas.

The deputies carried two toddlers that couldn’t walk through the snow to help them all get to their house about a half mile away.

The commission’s meeting begins at 5 p.m.
