July trial date set in domestic dispute involving gun

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A Kanawha County man who allegedly pointed a loaded rifle at a sheriff’s deputy won’t go on trial until later this year.

Brandon Weese was scheduled to face a jury beginning Monday but Kanawha County Circuit Judge Jim Stucky agreed to reset the case for July 20.

Deputies said Weese was served with a domestic violence protection order last September and was told to leave the home. He left, but deputies said he returned moments later, went inside and grabbed several guns and ammunition and pointed the gun at the deputy.

The deputy was able to grab the gun and subdue Weese with a stun gun.

Charges against Weese include wanton endangerment of a firearm.
