Jimmy Gardner’s re-trial date pushed back until July

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The trial date for a man granted a new trial after 26 years in state prison was moved back Wednesday.

Kanawha County Circuit Judge Joanna Tabit moved 49-year-old Jimmy Gardner’s trial back to July 11.

Gardner, a former Charleston Wheelers baseball player, was released earlier this month after posting $10,000 bond.

Gardner’s attorney had asked the judge for more time to prepare a defense. A pretrial hearing is scheduled for June 27.
