Humane officials recover 49 dogs from Kanawha County property

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. — Animal protection officials and law enforcement agencies rescued more than four dozen dogs Monday from a property in Kanawha County.

The Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association and others responded to a home on Cliffrose Lane to save 49 dogs. According to association members, the dogs were chained inside of an old barn, and lived without light, electricity or water.

The property owner, a woman in her early 80s, had at least 56 dogs on the property. She agreed to sign over 49 of the animals.

Officials said the dogs were malnourished and needed treatment for allergies.
