Heavy early evening storms cause problems in Kanawha Valley

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Heavy rains and winds from storms early Monday evening caused some problems throughout the Kanawha Valley.

Downed power lines and trees were the most commonly reported problems. A tree fell on a vehicle in East Bank on MacCorkle Avenue. The driver was not injured.

In Putnam County, the Hurricane Fire Department responded to a rescue in the 2700 block of Main Street when a truck was stranded in high water.

Main Street was closed at Route 34 due to a large tree that fell on power lines.

Over 1,000 people were without power Monday night in Kanawha County.
