Gas prices continue to fall as Labor Day approaches

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Prices at the gas pumps are dropping in West Virginia as Labor Day weekend approaches.

According to a news realease, drivers can expect to pay the lowest prices this time of year since 2004.

The national average for regular gas has fallen for 14 consecutive days for a total of 20 cents per gallon. The average price for gas now stands at $2.47. In Charleston, the average is $2.54 – down five cents since last week, nine cents since last month and 88 cents since last year.

Today’s average gas price of $2.47 per gallon marks a savings of 12 cents per gallon compared to one week ago and 18 cents per gallon versus one month ago.

The majority of states have posted savings of five cents or more per gallon in the past year.
