Four terms for Charleston Mayor Danny Jones

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — The mayor of Charleston will get an historic fourth term.

On Saturday, Mayor Danny Jones, a Republican, was reelected with 62 percent of the vote to Democrat Paul Monroe’s 34 percent and just more than three percent for William Carpenter, an independent.

Jones has served as Charleston’s mayor since 2003 and has already said this fourth, four-year term will be his last one.

Voter turnout for Charleston’s city election was 14.6 percent, according to city officials.

The Charleston city council winners were as follows:

Ward 2: Bobby Haas – Democrat
Ward 3: Chuck Overstreet – Democrat
Ward 4: James Ealy – Democrat
Ward 5: Jeanine Rose Faegre – Democrat
Ward 6: Edward Talkington – Democrat
Ward 7: Archie Chestnut – Democrat
Ward 8: Cubert Smith – Independent
Ward 9: Mary Beth Hoover – Democrat
Ward 10: Keeley Steele – Democrat
Ward 11: Shannon Snodgrass – Democrat
Ward 12: Susan Kortz Salisbury – Republican
Ward 13: Brent Burton – Republican
Ward 14: Courtney Persinger – Republican
Ward 15: Samuel Minardi – Democrat
Ward 16: Bobby Reishman – Republican
Ward 17: John Miller – Republican
Ward 18: Richard A. Burka – Republican
Ward 19: Jack E. Harrison – Democrat
Ward 20: Mike Clowser – Democrat

The At-Large council winners were Andy Richardson – Democrat, Mary Jean Davis – Democrat, Tom Lane – Republican, Becky Ceperley – Democrat, Jerry Ware – Democrat and Karan Ireland – Democrat.

Anne Charnock, a Republican, ran unopposed for the office of municipal judge, while Victor Grigoraci, a Democrat, was also unopposed in the race for treasurer.
