Former postal workers enters guilty plea for steal package intended for State Police

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — A former United States Postal Service worker who stole methamphetamine from a package pleaded guilty Thursday to theft of mail by a postal employee.

Turner Connolly, 25, of Charleston, was employed at the South Charleston Post Office and served as a mail processing clerk. According to a statement from U.S. Attorney Carol Casto, he learned to identify packages intended for the West Virginia State Police Forensic Laboratory. He stole a package from the Marshall County Drug Task Force intended for the laboratory on Nov. 4.

The package contained around 1.69 grams of methamphetamine. Connolly admitted to federal officers that he stole the package.

Connolly will be sentenced on Jan. 22 and faces up to five years in federal prison.
