Former Boy Scout leader sentenced for soliciting

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. — A former assistant Boy Scout leader in Kanawha County will spend four to 20 years in prison for sending sexually explicit photographs to several Scouts in his Sissonville troop and asking the teenagers to reciprocate.

Kevin Rogier, who was 39 at the time of the crimes in 2016, was sentenced on Thursday morning in Kanawha County Circuit Court.

As part of that prison sentence for four counts of soliciting a minor via computer, he’ll be required to register as a sex offender.

The victims were 15 and 16 years old.

The Kanawha County Sheriff’s Department launched an investigation following a complaint from the Buckskin Council of the Boy Scouts of America.
