Flags to be lowered countywide Saturday in honor of Gallo

CHARLESTON, W.Va. — Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin ordered that all flags will be lowered Saturday at the Capitol Complex and at all state-owned facilities in Kanawha County in honor of West Virginia State Senate head doorkeeper, Anthony Gallo.

Gallo died on Tuesday at the age of 92. He served in the Army and worked in several positions around Charleston, including assistant superintendent for Parks and Recreation.

He began his work with the state Senate in 1996 in the journal room.

Tomblin said in a statement that Gallo was “a dear friend, a true gentleman and a dedicated public servant.”
